Spring is almost here, and our first rides of the season are coming up fast! St Patrick's Day Parade in West Warwick, and our first "after meeting" ride March 30th. Take this time to perform your own maintenance stand down. You know your bike like no one else. Here are some tips: TIRE PRESSURE! If you don't do anything else, at least take the time to check this. The cold weather will usually cause you to lose a few pounds - per square inch of air pressure that is!!!!! Check your manual for proper amount. GAS. Ideally, you should drain and refill the tank, even if you used stabil. If your petcock is hard to work with, another option is to use a siphon hose. Try not to drink too much! Induce burping if swallowed. If you are real lazy, just add some octane booster. OIL. yes, even if the oil (engine/trans) was fresh when you wintered it, it has become contaminated. Change it. Belt, chain, shaft. adjust. replace if needed. Battery. You know if it is good or not. Get one with mucho CCA's. Tire tread. Don't take any chances. Even if you have good tread, if they are more than 2 - 3 years old, get new ones. Lights. Now we are talking standard safety inspection. You should get a sticker. Cables. You know the drill. Brakes. I know my front ones need replacing. The list goes on depending on your bike. Air suspension, shocks, fork oil, any grease fittings (swing arm?) Get the manual out! Do it now, so you don't have to do it on the side of the road. Speaking of that, road side assistance is not a bad idea. Check with your insurance company if you don't have it now. Get your riding head on. If you are new to us, and haven't ridden with us, take a minute to visit the group riding link on the link page. We want to be safe, and it starts with you. Let's Roll!
